Remember the days when all you needed to login to a web site was a username and password; well, they are about over!

The reality is cyber security, including web site security, is a modern-day requirement for access to many web and portal sites. This is to protect your account information by making it harder for hackers to break into your account by providing at least two “locks” on the door to your account.

One of the most common additional security measures is called Multifactor Authentication or MFA. MFA is, quite simply, another form of verification that the person logging onto the web site or portal is who they claim to be. The most common forms of MFA require the user logging into the web site to verify themselves by confirming access to their email account or verifying access to the mobile phone of the logged in user. This often involves a 5 or 6 digit code that has to be entered to prove that the correct person received the notification.

By September 2022, the PA Turnpike Commission is requiring multi-factor authentication (MFA) at log in for all PA Turnpike Commission Customer Portal users. MFA provides you and the Commission an extra level of security when working together online.

The first time you log into our portal after MFA starts, existing portal users will be given the choice to opt into MFA during a 60-day grace period. At the conclusion of that grace period, you will be automatically enrolled in MFA. For new users, anyone creating an account on the portal after the end of August 2022 will be required to utilized MFA and will begin doing so immediately.
